Dear Graduation Fairy, I would really like a new MacBook. Thanks, Mitch
These buttons are in honor of my first paper toy, the Ape Bot. Last night I had the urge to make some, because buttons are cool and I have a button maker at my job. I mean, really, who doesn’t like buttons. They are a limited run, because hand making buttons is very time consuming. They are free and they’re going fast.
For my birthday last May my friends from school, Mel and Jose, gave me one of the coolest presents I’ve ever received. They bought me this House Industries Luthers Austin Show Poster.
It goes great right next to the poster I got back in February when Rich Roat came to Jacksonville.
So, I really like the work of my friend Nick Villalva over at artbehindthefridge.com and I came up with the idea of letting him draw on my Macbook. He agreed to do it and I couldn’t be happier with how it turned out. See what he had to say about it here.
Here’s one from a long time ago. For the final project of my packaging design class at the Art Institute of Jacksonville I chose to redesign the packaging for Slinky Jr. and create a point of purchase display. Every design choice is meant to attract the attention of any child walking through the store with their parents.
Last quarter I was given a project to redesign the Jacksonville Transportation Authority’s logo, bus wrap, sign, and covered and uncovered bus stops. By far one of best projects I’ve had the pleasure of working on. The theme I chose was space age modern. The logo still has the arrows incorporated from the original logo, but instead of an inward focal point, the new logo is focusing up and/or forward, toward the future and the growth of Jacksonville. My project, along with more student’s projects from the Art Institute of Jacksonville can be found at The Reference Collection. Images by Tonya Lee.

This is my submission for the I’m Board 4 skateboard deck show. Originally I wanted to make something that resembled the hoverboard from Back to The Future. Then after some deliberation I thought that a hoverboard with working fans on it would be much more interesting. Every piece of this project was a found object, including the deck(thanks Jesse). Yes the fans work, and yes I shocked myself a few times doing the wiring.

This is my first ever paper toy creation. I named it Ape Bot. I am extremely proud of this toy seeing as it’s my first and I believe it turned out great. This will definitely be the first of many to come. Stay tuned for more creations in the future. Feel free to contact me if you want the pdf file so you can make your own.
